“Crocodiles are easy. They try to kill and eat you. People are harder. Sometimes they pretend to be your friend first.”
― Steve Irwin
Many of my most vibrant travel experiences have come in the form of interactions with wild animals. Authentic and truly unique images come more easily in wildlife photography than in any other form I have encountered. There is such an element of serendipity. To be sure, wildlife photography can be frustrating. I have spent hours sitting on a rock, waiting for sunbathing marine iguanas to finally plunge into the ocean. But the thrill of staring through the viewfinder at a truly alien subject, and at the same time, being observed by that subject and entering the mind of something as crazy and incomprehensible as an octopus, extends well beyond photography and makes all of the effort and trials worth it.
